Everyone seems to be ready for the cold and snow to be done but we aren’t quite there yet. Those warm days and freezing nights we need for a successful season need to last us through March. While the snow is causing some problems with access to trees, Brian has sorted that out for the most part. We haven’t had any sap for a week and that was only enough to sweeten the pans; not make any syrup. Today and tomorrow look to give us some sap for collection and see if we can’t get a good start going.

We have restocked many of the specialty products and have maple candy, maple cream and sugar on hand too.

MAPLE WEEKEND MARCH 15TH – MARCH 16TH 10am to 4pm each day

We will have ongoing tours in the sugarhouse of the maple syrup process from sap to syrup. These are ongoing continuously through the day so if you miss one part, Brian will soon start over so you can hear it all.

Kids can check out our Maple Leaf Trivia Questions hanging on the wall. Read the questions and see if you have the right answers! And the Adults can review the Nutrition Chart that shows comparisons between many sugars and how maple is a better option.

The shop will offer a full range of our pure maple products – Syrup, Cream, Candy & Sugar. But don’t forget those other maple specialty products like Ledge Top Maple BBQ Sauce, Sunnyside Maple Mustard and Van Otis Maple Caramel Popcorn. And there will be samples on hand to try as well.

Visiting Info

Please park in the parking lot if space allows but parking on the street should be limited to the even numbered side of the road.

Do not park on the street immediately past our driveway as it’s a blind spot for people coming our way and blocks the view of those exiting the parking lot. A short walk away there is parking on Sheepwash Rd as well.

Mud is everywhere this time of year so proper footwear is a must too.

There will be a bathroom on site.

It’s a new year and new things to look forward to. Brian has a new best friend (the Maple Mule) helping him get tapped and for collecting sap. Looks to be a great addition to the family. Tapping is underway and we might get a run before the freeze up this weekend. So check in and see how things are going on the website or on Facebook.

We’re are going to have that wonderful Maple Caramel Popcorn back in stock this year along with a few other additions. And since our gift baskets have proven so popular at Christmas, we are going to have some of those made up for folks to take home or give as gifts during Sugar Season.

This year will go into the record books for the least sales ever for maple producers, including us with the cancellation of Maple Month and Maple Weekend. This new COVID-19 virus hit everyone’s sales. And it will be very hard for some to recover from the losses. Many producers run farms as well and Maple Weekend was the only time they really got enough visitors to their sugar houses to sell their crop. Once the weather is better they have animals, crops, repairs and other work that needs their time and attention from sunrise to sunset.

There is hope that things will improve over the spring and summer so things may return to a more normal way of life by fall. In that hope, the NH Maple Producers are in initial stages of planning a fall maple event to replace Maple Weekend so that producers can sell the syrup they’ve made this spring. The season still isn’t over in NH and many producers will be making syrup for another week or more.

Stay safe and we wish you and your families the best during this difficult time.

Brian and Sue

NH Maple Weekend Open House

March 24th 10am to 5pm & 25th 10am to 4pm

Once again we look forward to welcoming visitors to our sugarhouse for NH Maple Weekend. The “tours” we offer are in the sugarhouse and FREE! Brian goes over the maple production process from start to finish over and over all day long. So if you come in part way through just wait a bit and he’ll come back to the beginning. Questions are always welcome anytime. There are trees tapped close by to check out too both in the yard and down a short path. And be sure to check out the Maple Leafs with Maple Trivia questions to test your maple knowledge.

In the store we’ll have a variety of samples of maple products to taste and buy. And it would not be Maple Weekend without Maple Ice Cream Sundaes. Those will be on sale too ($2.00 ea) with your choice of maple walnut ice cream from Blake’s Creamery (made with real maple syrup) or vanilla ice cream for those who’d prefer that, topped with our own fresh maple syrup and real whipped cream.

As always we’ll have a special table set up with some handouts for the adults and kids in the crowd as take-aways from your visit (while supplies last).

PARKING: Crowds will be expected so please park only on the right hand side (our side) of Candia Road or on Sheepwash Road a short walk before you get to our place. No parking is allowed in front of our mailbox or on the hill beyond our driveway for safety reasons.

FOOTWEAR: The driveway and parking area are dirt so with the snow they will be muddy/slushy. Proper footwear is encouraged.

RESTROOMS: We do have a Porta-Potty located on site for your convenience next to the cordwood stacks behind the sugarhouse.

We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express and Apple Pay.
