This year will go into the record books for the least sales ever for maple producers, including us with the cancellation of Maple Month and Maple Weekend.  This new COVID-19 virus hit everyone’s sales.  And it will be very hard for some to recover from the losses.  Many producers run farms as well and Maple Weekend was the only time they really got enough visitors to their sugar houses to sell their crop.  Once the weather is better they have animals, crops, repairs and other work that needs their time and attention from sunrise to sunset.

There is hope that things will improve over the spring and summer so things may return to a more normal way of life by fall.  In that hope, the NH Maple Producers are in initial stages of planning a fall maple event to replace Maple Weekend so that producers can sell the syrup they’ve made this spring.  The season still isn’t over in NH and many producers will be making syrup for another week or more.

Stay safe and we wish you and your families the best during this difficult time.
