Thanks to the good sap flow we got at the end of this week, we made some nice dark amber from yesterday’s boil.  We’ve packed some up this morning so you can take home a fresh packed warm jug today!

March 28, 2014

We’ll be open Saturday and Sunday 12-4pm both days.  We have made more syrup, cream, candy and taffy over the last week.

PARKING NOTE:

Please try to park only on the right hand side of Candia Road or on Sheep Wash Road a short walk before you get to our place if the parking area is full.  Do Not Park in front of our mailbox or on the street beyond on the hill for safety reasons.

The driveway and parking area are dirt and with melting snow still on the ground, proper footwear is encouraged.

Brian is out this morning collecting and it seems to have run pretty well yesterday.  Just a reminder that we do not have any maple cones or maple taffy today.  We will have more next weekend and if you would like to place an order to hold some, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to do that for you.  Hours today are 10am to 5pm.

Did you watch the weather today?  Here in Chester it was living up to the old adage that if you don’t like the weather in New England just wait a minute.  We had snow flurries and then bright sunny skies like a typical spring day.  Our visitors were not deterred though.  We had a nice group of folks who enjoyed all we had to offer; especially the Maple Sundaes.  So I am off to the store for more vanilla and whipped cream.

For those who might want to visit the Millcreek Dairy, Jeff’s cheese is already all sold out.  But visitors are still more than welcome to see the goats.

Happy Spring! And spring brings the promise of new beginnings.  Check out this adorable baby goat at Millcreek Dairy just up the street from us on Route 121.  Stop in and see this little one and some other new arrivals.

NH Maple Weekend Open House

March 22nd & 23rd 10 AM to 5PM

Once again we look forward to welcoming visitors to our sugarhouse for NH Maple Weekend.  The “tours” we offer are in the sugarhouse.  Brian goes over the maple production process from start to finish over and over all day long.  So if you come in part way through just wait a bit and he’ll come back to the beginning.  Questions are always welcome anytime.  There are trees tapped close by to check out too both in the yard and down a short path.

In the store we’ll have a variety of samples of maple products to taste and buy.  And it would not be Maple Weekend without Maple Ice Cream Sundaes.  Those will be on sale too  ($2.00 ea) with your choice of maple walnut ice cream from Blake’s Creamery (made with real maple syrup) or vanilla ice cream for those who’d prefer that, topped with our own fresh maple syrup and real whipped cream.

As always we’ll have a special table set up with some handouts for the adults and kids in the crowd as take-aways from your visit (while supplies last).

Crowds can be expected so please try to park only on the right hand side of Candia Road or on Sheep Wash Road a short walk before you get to our place.  The driveway and parking area are dirt and with snow still on the ground, proper footwear is encouraged.
