Be sure to join us one weekend soon to get a taste of traditional sugaring in NH.  Hours will be 12 – 4pm each weekend and will be expanded if conditions permit.

We’ll offer tours of the sugar house, process and products whether we are boiling or not.  As always there will be samples to try and products to buy.  This weeks sap had great sugar content so we are off to a good start.  Please, bear with us if we ask for a few more weeks of cold to keep the season going through March!!

Greetings All,

It’s been another weird winter and the maple sugaring community is trying to keep up.  While we are about to tap and wait for the first runs, there are a few large producers who have tapped and boiled in January to catch the early runs the warmer weather caused.  However sugar content was still quite low, only about 1.7%, so we’ll wait for the sugar content to climb in the next week or two.

The New Hampshire Maple Producers recently held their annual meeting and we are happy to say we will once again be part of a research effort out of UNH to monitor tree health and environmental impacts that may factor into tree stress.

We look forward to another sugaring season no matter what the weather brings.  Although we do prefer the 40 degree days and 25 degree nights! (and a little snow cover)  It’s always great to see folks again and welcome new visitors.  As always we update the boiling schedules and hours on the website weekly.

We hope to see you soon!

Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends and for those that brave the Black Friday shopping crowds, got lots of holiday deals for gift giving.  After prepping our decorations for the wreaths in October, Mom and I started decorating Brian’s freshly made wreaths yesterday.  It’s always a treat put the wreaths together and see the decorations look so fun and festive.  The designs are a mix, as usual, of forest friends, Williamsburg-ish, glittery and holiday fun with elves and Santas.  Most will last right through February or March (unless hung in a southern exposure).  Even indoors they will hold their needles and last for months.  Come join us for the Open House on December 3rd 9am to 4pm and December 4th 10am to 4pm.

Additionally holiday hours for December will be Saturday and Sunday 10 to 4pm for the following dates: Dec 10th, 11th, 17th, & 18th.

This week is turning out to be a challenge for us.  Brian was out collecting yesterday when his truck died out in a field with a hundred gallons of sap in the back.  He then had to call for a tow to the repair shop.  Unfortunately since he needed to get the collecting tank out of the truck for the repairs to be made, he had to dump the sap he had.  Fortunately our friend Darrel was around and able to put the tank in the back of his truck and he and Brian were able to collect more sap.  If all goes well the truck will be fixed today and back in service.  Maybe we need to think about a new truck. lol

We will be open and boiling both days this weekend from 12 to 4pm.  And we will have maple cones on sale again starting this weekend.

It was a pretty good day for sugaring today.  The sun warmed things up well enough to get the trees going again.  The last 2 days the weather was close to the right temperature but not quite warm enough.  So come watch us boiling on Sunday afternoon from 12pm to 4pm.  The driveway and yard are dirt, therefore muddy in this weather so make sure your footwear is appropriate.

Today was truly enjoyable for this time of year.  That was the comment from almost everyone who dropped by today.  There are still wreaths and swags and kissing balls to pick from s well as all your favorite maple goodies.  The shop will be open Sunday from 10am to 4pm and we’ll have holiday hours the next 2 weekends as well.   12-4pm each weekend.
