April 16, 2015

This was an interesting season.  One month start to finish.  Our first boil was March 11th and our last boil was April 11th.  In over 25 years we have never been sugaring on our daughter’s birthday which was last week.  Made lots of really nice syrup the last 10 days.  Many sugar makers have pulled their taps as did we on Monday.  Too early to tell overall if it was a good season for NH but we have heard some who said it was ok or good.  We did much better than expected despite the late start.

We start posting regular weekday hours in May for those who want to know when to come by and pick something up.  But as always, we will open on demand if you need something for yourself or guests.  Just call us at 887-3672.

Have a wonderful Spring.  I know I’m looking forward to seeing the salmon parrot tulips we planted last fall come up.

Night Boiling

The weather this week has been great for the sap to run.  The buckets have been full everyday and Brian has been collecting and boiling non-stop.  If we make it through the warm temperatures today we should have 2 or 3 more great days for sap next week too.  Check out this pretty cool night shot Brian took last week.  The driveway and yard are all pretty muddy and soft so if you want to walk the path to the trees make sure you wear your Wellies!
