Our season is officially underway.  Brian hung buckets from Sunday to Wednesday last week and with the warm temperatures the sap was ready to flow.  Our first boil was Friday the 10th, three days earlier than last year.  We hope we can have as decent a season as last year if the weather cooperates with some cooler breaks to keep the trees from budding early.

On another note, we’ve been getting restocked with Maple Cream Cookies and Maple Caramel Corn is on order.  And we’ll have more of the standards soon too.

Who’d have thought with temperatures at minus 10 or more yesterday that today would be the start of our tapping for this year!  But the trees have been producing sap for a couple weeks so the freeze up was the perfect time to think about getting started.  Weather this week looks like we might see some sap flow once we get the taps in place for this year.  Please remember that your local maple producers need more cool temps to keep the trees from budding too early so we can get a decent season. Fingers crossed.

Next weekend we’ll likely start our weekend hours of having the shop open.  Hours and Boiling times will be posted to the home page, as always, so folks know when to catch us making syrup.
